My Journey as a Migrant from Ecuador to Dubai: Faith, Resilience, and a New Life
Migrating from Ecuador to Dubai was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I left my children, my family, and everything I knew, driven by the need to give them a better future. I didn’t migrate with money or a perfect plan; I migrated with faith, fear, and a promise: to come back stronger for them.
Like many Latin American migrant women, I made a decision that breaks your heart, but also awakens a strength you didn’t know you had.
A Contract That Changed My Destiny
My journey began when a company in Dubai offered me a job contract and agreed to cover my entire process: visa, tickets, accommodation, and food. At my lowest point, when I didn’t even have enough to buy the tickets, this opportunity appeared. Everything happened quickly, truly, and almost miraculously.
I felt that God was opening a door when I no longer had the strength to knock.
Arriving in Dubai with $50
I arrived in Dubai with only $50 in my pocket, in one of the most expensive countries in the world. The company provided me with accommodation and food, which made the financial side easier—but not the emotional side.
The real challenge was adapting to a new culture, a different language, and an intense work pace. Loneliness, missing my children, and the pressure to prove my worth were all part of the process.
The Discomfort That Rebuilds You
Migrating is uncomfortable. It breaks you inside, confronts you with yourself, and forces you to reinvent yourself. But it also rebuilds you. In that discomfort, I discovered a version of myself I didn’t know: stronger, more resilient, and more aware of my purpose.
I learned that migration is not just a change of country—it’s a process of personal transformation.
God Does Not Abandon You
At every step, I felt that God never let go of me. In my first paycheck, in every message from my children, in every opportunity that appeared when it seemed impossible. Faith was my anchor on the darkest days and my strength on the longest days.
A New Life in Dubai
Today, I work at a luxury resort in Dubai and continue building my dreams as a migrant woman and mother. My story isn’t perfect, but it’s real. It’s the story of thousands of women who cross borders with divided hearts, yet with a strength no one can take away.
If you’re thinking about migrating, I want to tell you something: you don’t need to have it all figured out to start. Sometimes, all you need is faith, courage… and $50.
